London singer-songwriter and producer James Bakian is no ordinary 16 year old. Writing music since he was 11 and now producing it too, this up-and-coming young talent is one to watch!
With a musical ability well beyond his years James’ tracks have already been played on Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing show and he’s been a Featured Artist on Gary Crowley’s BBC Introducing Radio London show. Tom Robinson described James as: "the single most extraordinary singer I've heard all year" and Gary Crowley said: "wow, sits back in amazement, impressive stuff"!
James is a prolific songwriter, having already released two EPs, ‘By Your Side”, a collection of six songs in 2016 and “Unstoppable”, another 6 songs, in 2017. His sound has evolved from singersongwriter to pop to lofi to R&B and he’s always got new material he’s working on and genres he’s experimenting with, as well as covering the songs of artists he loves. The late XXXTentacion who James believes achieved so much in such a short time, has been a strong influence.
2018 saw him perform at his first festival in the summer, 110Above in Leicestershire as well as other live performances in London, notably at Zigfrid Von Underbelly in Hoxton, London where acts such as Ed Sheeran and Amy Winehouse have previously performed.
So what does the future hold for this young artist? “I’m going to carry on songwriting and really want to hone my production skills but I’d also love to do more live shows. I feed off the excitement of performing to a live audience and I can’t wait to do it again.” For James this is only just the beginning...we’re definitely going to be seeing a lot more of this young singer.
